Construction of a stunt scooter

No matter whether you opt for a complete system or a self-assembled scooter, it is important to know the installed parts and components as well as their scooters for children you deal with the construction, you can later make repairs yourself or tune your scooter.



The bars serve as scooter handlebars. They are usually available as steel bars or as an aluminum bar. Steel is cheaper and heavier. Riders prefer lower bars than the classic scooter and achieve more stability and control. The bar should be somewhere between the thigh and hips in height. For the width of the bar, the shoulder width is the rule of thumb.

Compression System


Compression systems give additional stability and prevent the scooter from becoming wobbly over time. The most common systems are ICS (Inverted/Internal Compression System), HIC (Hidden Internal Compression), and SCS (Standard Compression System). The use of a bar can be accompanied by additional modifications to the scooter.



The headset ensures that the fork of the scooter can rotate. A distinction is made between Integrated and Non-Integrated systems. Integrated headsets are considered to be of higher quality and reflect the current state of the art.



The deck is made of aluminum and forms the stand area for the feet. Almost all other installed parts are connected to the deck, which is why an exchange must always be time-consuming and coordinated. The different shapes of the decks are a matter of taste.



Rolls are available in different sizes, hardnesses, and materials. Profile and core can also differ greatly from each other. A massive core lasts longer, but also weighs more. Profiles are responsible for the speed, the hardness of the rollers determines the degree of wear.



Ball bearings are essential for rolling or locomotion. Therefore, the ball bearing should not come into contact with water, sand, and dirt and should be cleaned regularly.


Griffe / Grips

The handles of the stunt scooter are placed on the bar and are the link between hands and sports equipment. Since the handles wear out due to use, they must be replaced regularly. In terms of design, the grips hardly differ from the BMX handles. Whether you resort to hard or soft handles is a matter of taste. Tip: Spray the handlebars with hairspray before attaching.



As with the bicycle, the fork provides the support of the bar, wheels and headset. If a compression system has been installed, it must also fit the fork. Forks are usually available as one-piece or 2-split. When installing the reel, do not forget that most forks need a spacer. These ensure that the roller fits perfectly.



Clamps prevent and fix the bar with the fork of the scooter. They must withstand extreme loads and should be tightened accordingly. Standard sizes for clamps are 32 mm for a standard bar and 34.9 mm for oversized bars.



Griptape is the rough surface made of sandpaper on which the shoes have better grip (hold). As with the skateboard, the griptape must be removed and renewed regularly, as it is a wear part. Care must be taken to ensure that the old griptape is removed without leaving any residue. This is the only way the new griptape can be wound cleanly. If necessary, the griptape must still be cut to the right size with a cutter.



The two common brake systems are the spring brake and the Flexfender brake. Brakes are essential to avoid collisions and to bring the device to a standstill quickly. When choosing the brake, the size of the rollers plays a decisive role and must be coordinated with each other.




Pegs are the lateral extension of the scooters. When grinding and rail use a mandatory purchase, best electric scooters with which numerous additional tricks are possible. With frequent use, the pegs need to be renewed regularly.
