Graphic Design

To know about what is all about graphic designing, one needs to understand the basic mechanism that lies in it. Suppose, if you’re looking forward to designing something, at first you’ll need to notice the textures, the edges, and then the shape makes a complete briefing.

The trend of imagination and putting ideas altogether in a single portrait aka what we call now graphic designing started a long time ago. Before 70 years, the scenario of graphic design was different. All their objective was to take away people’s attention on something really important by creating informative posters.

Let’s talk about the Bauhaus school of design in Germany (1919-1933) was famous for designers and their emerging ideology of modern art.  If you go through their definitive work, you’ll reach the depth of today’s graphic designing and its derivation. On the other hand, I must not deny the other contributions did by other well-known schools, graphic designers, and even typographers. No matter whether you get influenced or not,our ideas matter the most in the end.

Now, enough of giving history lectures. Let’s get straight to the objective of my blog. That is to give you a brief insight into graphic design and its types.

Take a quick read.

What is Graphic Design?

Graphic design is defined as a picturization of things we see around us every day or most of the day.For me, it’s nothing but an alternative mode of promoting information to our daily targets. What we visualize and what we visualize and what we want people to learn about put in one form of input, graphic designing services.

Here are the seven souls AKA features that gives a complete definition of graphic designing:

  • The first key feature is COLOUR divided into primary, secondary, and tertiary.

Primary= Red + Green + Blue (RGB)

Secondary= Cyan + Magenta + Yellow +, Black (CMYK)

Tertiary= Primary + Secondary

Depending on which colour suits with which perception better, change accordingly.

  • Another inevitable feature is what we call TYPOGRAPHY. Its immense contribution to any big to small posters, banners, carousels,brochures, columns, and so for this to take note of.
  • TEXTURE and COMPOSITION is the basis of elements that come under the components of graphic design.
  • Then comes proper BALANCE implies an equal distribution of colour, texture, design, and elements.
  • Everything we see is defined by LINES and SHAPES. No surprise, it is formulated to patterns and textures.
  • And, adding IMAGEs describes the overall theme of the design.

You may have a question about what differs paintings from graphic designing?

It is the visual representation that plays a key role in it. Paintings are a handy and raw illustration of surrounding whereas graphic designing stress more detailing factors of a particular object or creature. But, both have the same purpose, that is, to communicate the ideas and thoughts with the masses.

As said, graphic design tools aren’t handy, unlikepainting or sketching. We require a perfect set-up of personalized laptops or any device, and updated software, and last but not least, creative ideas and skills/techniques to represent the whole agenda. From Photoshop to the mobile-friendly appCanva are some top software to begin the journey of graphic design.

Everything is possible in the era of social media and upgraded technology. All you have to do is to unlock your learning capabilities and hand over it to a good source.

  1. Digital/Print design

These types of graphic design have created a milestone of every other design introduced till now. The print design emphasizes typography and B/W informative texts and partly pictures to define the process. Whereas the digital design or so-called the 21st way of portraying anything emphasise more the context, illustrations,colour, 3D version of art, and many more.

Print design culture started from the word go of 19th century when designers were in high demand to expand their ideas in the form of posters on various issues and announcements. Also, how can I forget to mention the printing press and classical literature era? Every edge of it is none other than a form of graphic design.

Digital design inculcates the digital version of it with more textures, compositions, images, and a minimalistic look for easier understanding. Whatever it may be, the journey of today’s digital design carries along with the same idea of what designers used to preach in ancient, medieval, and 19th century times.

  1. Advertisement and Marketing design

The art of marketing always involves its crucial element which is only visual communication. A brand or a company identity become 2x times more engaging and popular when it is promoted. And, that kind of promotion is done by designing different posters, brochures,today’s carouselsor social posts. The factors that help such designers to create the best of it are as follows;

  • Updated version of software you’re using.
  • High amount of knowledge about marketing skills is a plus point.
  • More use of warm attractive colours.
  • Fewer texts, but crisp headings to invite more masses.
  • Knows the target audience.

Yes, that’s all you have to keep in mind while you design any marketing copy, ad posters, or any related to the promotion.

  1. Product design

You might be confused between ad and product design. But listen, it’s more or less different and has nothing to do with branding design. How? Keep reading. The major characteristic of product design is the deep understanding of a product based on its parts, features, shape, lines, texture, and 3D/2D design.

Another responsibility of a product design is practising how to represent the product. Here the product design indirectly resembles enough with the features of marketing designs. In short, it analyses the entire process of how the product should be promoted. Have a look at those step by step processes:

  • Visual process that presents the overall look of the product.
  • Interaction process to understand sustainable needs.
  • Prototypers- a test to determine the alternative methods for better work ability.
  • Data analysis to go through the data information provided on the product.
  • Strategists who implement the strategies behind designing a product.

Or, a product designer can be any one of these above factors depending on their interests. Let’s move on to the next type of graphic design.

  1. UI/UX design

The significance of having a website was generated from the early 2000s when the first web page was installed by Tim Berners Lee. It not only gives an introduction to the purpose of the company or service but also feels like a home or any mall store where you can find the particular item that you’re looking for.

The market of hiring UI/UX designers is indeed increasing day by day for a large number of start-ups are relying upon them. What do these kind of designers do? Let’s know about the functions they perform:

  • Focuses on building theme-based designs.
  • Design web/app page, its features, and certain micro-interactions.
  • Delivers user-friendly experience.

Sounds similar right? But that’s not what it is. The primary goal of any UI designer is to blend technical functionality with designing aspects in an equal manner. Most beginners haveconfusion regarding the job roles of UI and UX designers. Just to clarify, the role of any UX designer is to develop an app and are more towards the designing aspect irrespective of technical skills Website development services. However, coding skills are kind of mandatory in the case of UI designers.

  1. Animation design

Animation designs include cinematic versions of action movies, or cartoons or even in social media with the help of special effects, of course.Taking a proper course on this is just one step far from becoming an animation designer. But I swear it takes a lot of patience and hard work to complete work successfully.

All of you have heard of this phrase ‘Practice makes a human perfect’. It applies the same here to become a contented animation designer. Once you achieve to be in that level, I believe every other type of graphic designyou can grasp comparatively without any effort.

The day of an animation designer starts with a cup of coffee and then the actual starts with storyboarding, building characters, creating 3D/2D images, and applying VFX for special effects.

  1. Covers/Publishing/Editorial designs

To begin with, let’s recall back to the school days or the pre-nursery days where we used to get attracted in a minute. By what? By seeing the covers of the books, the colours and images of the book covers, and the contents.

Designing book covers or newspapers or magazinesalso requires a few tips about graphic designing elements, typography, and how to balance the text and the images. That’s where the important part lies in designing covers. Anyone can become such type of graphic designer by keeping in mind a few of the above points that I have mentioned.

  1. Environmental design

The word ‘environmental’ says it all about the roles. Environmental design is more ‘live’ in terms of portraying ideas in one form. It is a traditional form of design but still falls under graphic design because simply it’s all about design, texture, composition, etc.

This kind of design is more towards planning architectural designs like how an interior should like. Having practical as well as creative sense is encouraged to be environmental design.

  1. Illustrations

Illustrations are a long way to go with their creative sense of illustrating any living or non-living things most simply. The only reason why it is so trending is it does magic to all people’s needs without the need of taking knowledge.

A greatdevice is what you require to run the apps specialised in creating instant illustrations smoothly. With just one tap, it renders out of box solution to every single-handed businessperson’s problem of promoting their products and services.

  1. Multimedia designs

Here’s the 9th and the last type of graphic design that I’m going to talk about. As we know, multimedia means multiples hands of media comprised of audio, image as well as video visuals. But mostly what happens is such designers more work towards editing videos that can drive people instantly.

It is in between a visual and animation graphic designer. Though they may not have every bit of knowledge about the respective two fields, they are compatible in both. Generally, multimedia designers come from creative fields of marketing and advertising earning a lot of public views. They can also play with creating certain animation graphics.

Hence, the exact roles and responsibilities of multimedia designers aren’t fixed and change from designer to designer. Leaving it to you how you want to perceive it.

To Sum it Up.

So, done with today’s brief overview on graphic design and its types.

However, everyone isn’t a graphic designer but they are designers for sure. Because designing is universal that will always be instilled in every humankind. Design can come in every form and it’s some who nurtures it and some who takes ideas of it and implements it modestly and Content writing services.

Thought of the day-Be a designer at first to be a graphic designer.

Signing off for now, have a great day.
