About Article Daily

A Brooklyn newsroom, one issue a day, since 2014.

Article Daily was founded in a converted pencil factory on Wythe Avenue in November 2014 with a single promise: publish one carefully edited issue a day, every day, and never publish a story we wouldn't print in a Sunday paper. Eleven years and more than 4,000 daily issues later, that promise still runs the newsroom.

Editorial Code

The rules every issue is held to.

A reader once wrote in to ask how we decide what makes the front page. The honest answer is that we wrote the answer down in 2014 and have reread it every weekday morning since. These are the seven rules that gate every line we publish.

  1. 01

One issue. One day. Every day.

We publish a single daily edition at 6:00 a.m. Eastern, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty-five days a year. We have missed zero issues since the first one rolled off the press in November 2014. There is no infinite feed and there never will be — the constraint is the product.

  2. 02

    100% human-edited.

Every article is read, sourced, and signed off by a named editor before it is published. No article has ever been written, drafted, or summarized by an artificial intelligence system, and our masthead policy explicitly forbids it. The byline means a person.

  3. 03

    An ad-light reading experience.

The average article on Article Daily carries fewer than two advertisements, against an industry average of eleven. Our revenue comes primarily from reader subscriptions, which means our incentives point toward trust, not clicks. The page should feel like a paper, not a billboard.

  4. 04

Read it in under five minutes.

The morning issue is deliberately sized for a commute or a first cup of coffee. Our editors cut, not pad. If a story needs ten minutes we send it to the weekend edition; if it can be told in a paragraph, it gets a paragraph and a link to the primary source.

  5. 05

    Two sources, one quote.

Every factual claim of consequence is corroborated by at least two independent sources before publication, and every direct quotation is attributed on the record. We do not run anonymous quotes in news copy except in the narrow circumstances an editor signs off in writing.

  6. 06

    Corrections in daylight.

When we get something wrong, the corrected version is dated, footnoted at the foot of the article, and emailed to every subscriber who opened the original. We do not silently rewrite history. The corrected version is the version we stand behind.

  7. 07

    Independence, on the record.

Article Daily is owned by Article Daily Media, Inc., a privately held company headquartered in Brooklyn. We do not accept paid content, sponsored editorial, or undisclosed advertising of any kind. Our masthead, our funding, and our conflicts policy are published in full at the foot of every issue.

People ask me why we still publish one issue a day, in 2026, when the rest of the internet has decided to publish everything all the time. The honest answer is that I have tried the other way. I have edited feeds. I have run a continuous site. And what I learned is that a day is a unit of attention — a unit a reader can actually finish. We are not in the business of more. We are in the business of enough, once a day, well told.
